The Apricot Tree Cafe

There are times when we are soul searching, we want to find comfort in an establishment and comfort in their food. When I first walked into The Apricot Tree Cafe -with my good friend Taylor who joined me on this venture- I knew that it would be special. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is warm, cultured, and suave. Let me take this opportunity to elaborate. The atmosphere is somewhat magical where friends and family meet to enjoy life, have deep conversations, and connect over exotic cuisine. This is the kind of place that you can have a romantic evening with that special someone, or a night out with good friends, or even bring beloved family members.

The Apricot Tree Cafe is located at 1900 Dundas Street West, Mississauga
(The courtyard leading into The Apricot Tree is magnificent.)

The Apricot Tree is well known for its selection of unique desserts. During my visit I ordered the 'Warm Chocolate Hazelnut cake' which was superb. The texture was velvet-like and the taste was rich and smooth with an even chocolate to hazelnut ratio.  Excellent presentation with strawberry carpaccio and chocolate and vanilla drizzle.

My dear friend Taylor ordered the 'Apricot Crêpe' She said "It was tasty! and not too sweet. The pistacio and apricot mousse in the crepe was pleasantly mellow and tart. I loved the apricot ice cream and chutney. All in all a very classy dessert"

I highly recommend The Apricot Tree Cafe for those seeking classy and magical environments to bring people you care about. I know that I will be returning.

La Villa Fine Foods & Bakery

Today on my quest for another sweet spot to write about my aunt Florence joins me, because this type of research is so difficult I thought I would outsource for a second opinion.

Much of the time while traveling great things are found by accident. After several failed attempts driving around Mississauga searching for a unique place to write about and getting lost once, We found La Villa. A family owned bakery on Lakeshore East residing at 331B

The experience at La Villa was nice I could feel the family atmosphere, quite fitting since I was with my aunt. They sell fine foods and imported products but they also have a bakery filled with luscious Italian treats to stare in awe of and become baffled at where to start.

We both had Sicilian Cannoli which was very authentic and delicious, my aunt had a pecan tart which she said was "really good" and I had an almond tart which was rich in flavor and exquisite. I will definitely be visiting again.

The moral of the story is get lost and you will find great places.

The Social Cupcake

The Social Cupcake is located in Port Credit at 129B Lakeshore Rd. East

I have always felt that cupcakes are the best form of cake indulgence. The only thing better than eating one of these luxurious little delicacies is not having to share it. Cupcakes have been around since 1796, and still today they are a high demand item in the world of sweets. It takes a lot of talent, skill, and love to create perfect cupcakes. People constantly want new and exciting treats that break free of the binding ties to their ancestor's kitchen. People want luxurious cupcakes that make them feel like royalty. In order to understand, you have to experience and love sweets.

I had the most wonderful experience at The Social Cupcake. I was greeted by friendly inviting staff who were more than accommodating. I had two delicious cupcakes: Raspberry Coconut and Boston Creme, both were heavenly. The Social Cupcake has a veritable cornucopia of cupcakes to choose from and they also create specialty cakes.

Cupcakes sell fast as this little gem on Lakeshore grows.

The social cupcake takes orders over the phone or online

French Corner Bakery & Patisserie

Located at 1224 Dundas St. W. Unit # 114 in Mississauga Ontario

Tucked away in a small corner of the southern region of this city, is a delightful french bakery & patisserie with outstanding customer service and a warm inviting atmosphere. I frequent this place as I love it so much and it is a stone's throw away from my home. There are a variety of sweets to choose from. Pastries such as: macaroons, tiramisu, eclairs. Other treats include: Tarts, danish, Sticky buns, gateaux & cakes and more.

When I first moved to Mississauga this was the first place I visited. I had espresso and macaroons -raspberry, chocolate, and mango chocolate- and it was an experience so divine it was as if I was meditating while eating. The Espresso is fresh and maintains consistency. The Macaroons were rich with flavor and I savored every bite.

I would highly recommend this place to all those in and around Mississauga. The French corner also has a menu of gourmet sandwiches, soups and fresh artisan breads. This dot on the map is as close as one can get to France in Mississauga.

Introduction

I have chosen to blog about the various places to go for sweets in Mississauga. As a tourist, you have come to the city with an itinerary of things to accomplish. Included in that itinerary is food and beverage and a subset of that is sweets. Whether it is dessert after a meal or just your sweet tooth craving something delicious you will more than likely be wondering where the best places are to become lost in the indulgent world that is sweets. Here I will write about the best places that I believe to be hidden treasure in a vibrant and ever growing city.
